About Me

As you might have gathered from my blog, I am extremely interested in the field of climate change. I also endeavor to understand a host of other subjects, from science to business to politics, and their various, often-times fascinating interrelations. A bit "geeky" some might say, but (although I have to say so myself) that's certainly not my defining trait, which is well-balanced by other interests like traveling, playing and watching sports, trying out new restaurants and just plain hanging out.

I graduated in 2002 from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, at which point I started my graduate studies in the US. I completed my PhD in solar cells from Stanford University in 2007. My interest in climate change burgeoned during these years. Upon graduation, I spent about 2 years at McKinsey & Company as a management consultant. After spending a few months working with the National Resources Defense Council on the now in-limbo Waxman-Markey climate change legislation, I moved to Melbourne, Australia for a short while. Here I am advising the Premier of the State of Victoria, on climate change adaptation (bushfire/wildfire) issues.

That is my rather abbreviated life history. Hope you like my musings.

PS: Please excuse my vacillations between US and UK English spellings. I keep flitting between former Commonwealth and never-Commonwealth countries. I am also perpetually confused by mm/dd/yyyy and dd/mm/yyyy, to the extent that I have a perpetual post-it note prompting me at work.
